The identity of Aunt Rowena was born in the mid-80s over food and alcohol with my friends. I’ve been called everything from Melissa to Linda to Belinda to pretty much anything that sounds like, but is not my name. As we ate, drank and laughed, I created a persona named Rowena – the one name I’m pretty sure no one every actually called me, but maybe they would have eventually if I hadn’t spoken up and gave them my actual name.
I’ve been blogging under the pseudonym Aunt Rowena for years now – not to hide my true identity, really, just because it was fun.
I’m actually Melinda, although even I get it wrong on occasion and have now created my new favorite misspelling Meldina, which I refer to as my Star Trek name.
I’m not a cook/chef – I mostly eat out – but I love a challenge and a good craft, and when inspired, like to make and bake things.
