Roasted Brussels Sprouts and shaved Brussels Sprouts too!

Brussels Sprouts pre-roast

I used this recipe from NYT. The crispy outer leaves that fall off should be bagged and sold as chips – so good! I should break them into leaves only, for snacks! UPDATE: H-E-B sells shaved Brussels sprouts! I followed a recipe that said 400° F for 20 minutes which was waaay too long. Try 10-15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved through the stem
  • oil (I used olive once, avocado another time)
  • whole sage leaves (Albanian, Penzey's)
  • pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 450 F

Toss the halved sprouts in a bowl with the sage, oil and salt.

Spread the sprouts on a sheet pan in one layer - I put cut side down so it's easier to tell which side was up

Roast in the oven for 15 minutes

Take pan out and turn over the sprouts one by one

Roast another 5 - 10 minutes
